I'm assuming he means Bar Pin Eliminators, am I correct??

Are you trying to solve something, fit shocks with different mounts, want to extend current shocks a bit... they can do different things but they are basically just little mounting points and not the most exciting thing in the world.

Im currently doing a 3" lift and i will probably snap some bolts getting the shocks off. So should i then change the mounts to bpe or just put the standard brackets back on. Is there an advantage in changing them or do they do sod all

There are different types - some with a separate bolt that can be undone to change shocks without having to remove the bolts that always break and other (like JKS ones) that require you to remove those bolts each time. The first type generlly give about 1" extension to the mouting point and the latter less, maybe 1/2".
I guess we are talking rear upper shock mounts on an XJ here? - Once you snap them and re-drill and tap the holes, if you install replacement bolts with copper grease you probably won't have a problem again.
