Title: Air Compessor....
Post by: wildwood on November 08, 2012, 06:10:52 PM
today I have been lucky enough to snag myself a TA Industries compressor......... None of yer chop suey Mau Mart stuff..... :icon_twisted:
14CFM and 150 psi.. Air tools here we come :icon_biggrin:

My old compressor used to struggle to inflate a trailer wheel to its required 90 psi.... The last 10 psi taking forever....
This bad boy does it in 20 secs........

Today I am mostly happy :icon_twisted:

Been causing carnage with them for quarter of a century :icon_super:

Sadly the carnage has moved into my arms and hands. HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome) and Vibration White Finger are presently incurable. If the specialist I'm seeing next week thinks I have symptoms of either, he can sign me off as 'Unfit to work'.

That's it, no messing, no second chances, career and livelihood gone.

I have symptoms :jpshakehead:

Be careful with air tools guys........

Sorry to hear that Paul..... mate of mine has syndrome that is similar due to working with forestry stuff.....chainsaws and things...... Biker since 16 and this looks likely to have to stop due to white finger hand numbing and stuff as well..

not good....... Might get some gloves that might help to lessen the danger.......

Cheers guys, but sadly I know I'm in trouble (and have done for a while.....)
Might get some gloves that might help to lessen the danger.......

ALWAYS wear padded gloves, they make a huge difference!
Most modern air tools are much better than those of 15-20 years ago, for the above reasons.

Air chisels were outlawed probably 10 years ago, they can cause a lot of damage in a short space of time. We're just not allowed to use them any more

There are also recommended times for use in a given day, if I can find the table I'll post it. Some of them are surprisingly short - less than an hour in any 24hr period

I would suggest the investment in a coalescing filter, Mister. You air tools will appreciate the lack of water running through them :003:

Pricey, but worth it I say. Especially if your gonna do a bit of spraying.

Don't forget, your plasma cutter won't be needing the lubricator inline  :icon_eek:
