Yeah – well, the subject keeps on coming.
I recently had number 4 changed and the garage had to drop the engine to fit the new injector. They sent the old injector back to the supplier and got a forty quid return. Total cost to me was £347.60.
I have another one that is on the blink now.
Why do they keep going tits up anyway?
I have heard that the injectors can be reconditioned. Is this true?
If true, does anyone know a place near Shrewsbury that would do this please.
Its got to be cheaper than having a new injector fitted. (I would think)
Thanks

Snap ....... !!!!! my 2.7 woes sharing friend. Engine was running ropey as fook at low load top gear @ 50 mph ..... 1500/1600 revs
2 months ago had all 5 injectors removed & refurbed. Did not have engine dropped but went for the wee hole in the steel works above.
erm..... the Jeep garage rendered this little service.......................... only £1200 squid when all was said and done
Remove - send away to refurberer chappy - reinstall with new washers, stretch bolts and no doubt some computer malarky to make 'em talk to the fuel/engine management system
Mine has done 130K now. Did some asking around and found that this is a service item and could come up around 90K.
Must say truck runs now sweet as.
as for refurb places oop norf : bosch specialists ??

Hi Dutch,
Just been out in the -1C and had a look and No 2 is leaking like a good un.
At least it aint No. 5.
You know something - I am surprised that no-one has mentioned that little sod of a non returnable valve on top of the fuel filter.
I had air in the fuel pipes and it was the valve stuck open and allowing the fuel to drain back. This, of course, made the engine turn over without starting for about 30 to 120 seconds till the LP pump sucked the juice up. I often had a battery flatter than the flattest pancake EVER.
£13 from the stealer settled THAT.
Right - thanks for that - its the Bosch chappies on Monday.

I thought running a diesel was supposed to save you money! :hysterical:

sure does with a diesel! I guess its down to the mix and match of parts they fail so frequently.

Hmmmm ..... some 4.7 V8's don't seem to be doin so good either .....which reminds me how's Jays doin ?
Must say had to go to garage with this and that's daylight robbery (for example on delivery they said that front CV was noisy and front pads & discs were gone
estimate £750 + £450. paid 150 quid for parts @ mansfield and a days spannering) :017:

4.7 isn't a jeep design engine either.
