I have a fault code P0753 on my 1999 keep grand cherokee. Read on the Internet this is the solonoid in the gearbox. This explains why it goes into limp mode when warmed up. Is this on the outside of the gearbox and how hard is it to change?
Thanks in advance. Dan

Dan,
It's on the inside (internal) and is about a £700gbp cost to repair.
-
is that main stealer price?
-
That's a big ouch either way
-
Ok anyone know what the part number would be?
-
:icon_rolleyes: just weighed in 2 transmissions, be cheaper to swap the tranny out for a known workind s/h unit.

Is it a common failure on these? Looks like the car below has suffered the same fate...

Time to start import business Baz :003:

Having sold my Passat to a British guy in Germany, I had to ask why he came from Dusseldorf to by a £500 car :017:
"Cos it's worth about 2 grand over there!" :icon_eek:

That thought has crossed my mind more than a few times Gaz. I know a bloke (Brit) who lived in the next town who was making piles of loot buying and selling cheap vehicles, spiffing them up and flogging them here, but he got greedy..he took a bunch of orders from folk here (and a big bunch of money!) and did a runner back to the UK. I hear on the grapevine that a bullet is waiting here for him should he return.
Seriously though, a trip around the car yards here would be educational..crazy money being asked for vehicles that are way past their use by date.
Just tried to put up some pics of an interesting Jeep but didn't work.

Just out of curiosity, how much is an axle rebuild on one of these hogs?
-
The only awkward bit as I see it would be the shipping of a vehicle from here to you Baz, otherwise it could be a very viable sideline :icon_winkle:
Hmmm, wheels turning :icon_winkle:

Export paperwork can be a pain, but on the good side imported vehicles are sold unregistered, uninsured and without any MOT or warranty..the buyer has to arrange all that.

Do you have problems with them being RHD?
I sent out some vans and 4x4's to Albania and they'd have been worth a lot more if they were LHD. They have banned the re-registration of RHD vehicles so they had to remain on GB plates.
Coincidentally, I bought one of the 4x4s from a guy who was exporting HGV's to Bulgaria, he only wanted one type as he had someone who could cost effectively change them to left hookers, I assumed they had the same RHD rule.
