Title: Trailers (yup, shoot me)
Post by: Bulldog67 on December 24, 2012, 10:20:12 AM
I may have a need to trailer a truck with a 'duty weight of 2880kg' - can an XJ do this? Will be quite a long trip and I hate trailers so need to get it right or I will kill myself.

If the XJ cant what about the XC90?

Which would be the safest bet?

Cheers

XJ is probably your safest bet mate,

Table below shows Volvo towing weights depending on your model.

hmmm, thought the XC would be better than that, might well have to look at hiring a transporter then but expect that may be daft money.

weirdly a pic the guy sent has him pulling it on a trailer using a dulvo v40

Swedeb could be a bit costly in the Chief  :003:

i found chiefs/wagoneer superb tow rigs but at todays fuel cost i would not do it and yours i think still has cooling issues and i think may be an unplesant tow rig with its mods

Have removed the winch and the cooling appears fixed, so its just airflow, so I need to fit some super sucking fans and Im away

but driving it on a 1600 mile trip aint ever happenin until i win the lotto

Nah its not that one if you mean the pick up version

But, just got contact and its gone via a dood that lives a bit closer with wads in his hand - bollox :010:

 :banghead:

Still, on the plus side the further ya delve into google the more ya find so hopefully wont be long

They seem to fall in two catergories - £30k plus is the mint and stock, or sub £10k if they have been modernised, which is exactly what I will do anyway

I am focused on the hunt  :magnify_125:

The 2002-on is the one to have (indicators in the rear view mirrors) and as for mileage, they should be good for 300k with no major problems.

Solid chassis and a V8 powerhouse is a combo that works!!!

They are i guess in comparison to some, but i find them to be around the same price as a Defender of a similar year.I have one here and i would part with it for sub £4k,which is not much more than i sold my 90 for and that was older and agricultural
