Hi
Does anyone know if you can get a TJ plug n play harness for towbar wiring in uk?
Ta
Happy new year folks!
-
There was one fitted to my TJ when I bought it so they must be available. With the TJ though, it's so easy to tap into the loom next to the rear passenger seat anyway that its hardly worth the effort of the plug & play loom.
Maybe worth contacting Towequipe to see what they have in stock if you really want to go that way.

Just went to Halfrauds and,got a wiring kit and plug.....came with instructions and cost £20 odd I think......snip and connect.....job done :icon_twisted:
-
just a general purpose one from halfords?
-
The tj is such a basic loom it won't benefit from anything funky. Garage fitted
Mine when I brought it from them; best bit was they left the buzzer out!
I brought a mopar one for the wj: which weighed a ton and cost much moolar; wasn't worth the extra.

cheers folks, I have never wired a towbar in ( im only after a basic trailer socket for lights) anyone have a dummy guide?
-
If you buy the socket to receive the trailer board connector there is a breakdown of what goes where.
-
I think the Halfords one is all colour coded with instructions and then just add a Machine mart trailer board that comes complete with length of wire and plug already to plug in.
Just add no plate and your small trailer for camping is ready to go

Standard trailer socket wiring is all by numbers in the socket or plug. Just connect the the colours as shown.

spot on lads, and just break into the wiring behind tail lights?
-
No need to Go into the light, at the bottom of the rear corner of tub you can open a plastic cover underneath and gain access to the loom there which feeds the lights. May need to take the little mudflap off if fitted. Should be on passenger side. Didn't do the loom chop or splicing myself so that's as far as I know!
