jeep say its probally a imoboliser problem but no spares are available for this model can anyone help
it appears that the fuel is not being released to the engine

Please clarify, is it a cherokee (XJ) 2.5 TD or a Grand Cherokee (WJ) 3.1 TD you have?

From the title i'd say 2000 xj and prob 4.0 cos it's an auto.
Is it definitely no fuel or is it no spark?
If the crank or cam sensor has failed it won't start and symptom will be no spark
Scan it for fault codes with any cheap scanner

Not so fast grasshopper :icon_rolleyes: my money is on a 2000 WJ 3.1 TD ......judging from the ride description (3.12 Cherokee Automatic) :003:
