Title: M/T tyres which ones?
Post by: IrishCJ6 on January 23, 2013, 08:47:57 PM
Ok, I have to get a new set of boots for the Jeep, they need to be roadable (say 80% offroad 20% onroad) size 33x12.50.15

I'm looking at

BMG KM2's €189/each
Cooper STT €191
GT Radial Adventuro €169/each

What are your thoughts

I'm running BFG KM2's - but only done 5K so far - I previously ran BFG AT's and they were good for at least 65K.

Here's hoping another 60K to go! :greggmo:

The BFG AT's were quiet, whereas the KM2's have a road noise - nothing bad mind you - I've done long runs down motorways without any noticeable annoyance  :greggmo: :greggmo:

BFG's, love em'! they wear better than wranglers & as aren't as puncture prone as the wranglers! They are noisier than the earlier BFG muds cos' of the stiffer side wall but it's not too intrusive! I can't comment on STT never run em'!

I've just bought a set of the GT Radial Adventuros. They're not fitted yet, so I can't comment on what they're like but for the price it was worth a go

I have run BFG ATs on the KJ for almost four years/30K and have had no problems..no punctures, quiet on tarmac, great in snow and wet conditions. Solid tire..IMHO.

Simex Extreme Trekkers (aka Centipedes). Seriously......

....Don't go there. Obviously you would get there, but you'd be deaf, shaking, have white knuckles and blurred vision. I love mine :icon_super:

Over the years I've had Goodyear Wrangler MTRs, Kumhos, Marshalls and BFGs in A/T and M/T flavour.
Kumho/Marshalls (same thing) are a great budget alternative, but don't wear particularly well, MTRs are a great tyre but best of all are the BFGs.
Just don't get Simexes.......
