Title: Now mine YJ
Post by: robsrotti on January 26, 2013, 09:44:23 PM
Ok so after buying Wildwoods past Yj that he sold years ago and deciding to keep it and sell my Xj that I miss. I have decided to do a build thread.
As it stands it has....
Dana 30 with warn shafts and free wheeling hubs, plus ARB locker
Dana 44 with Detroit locker, plus disc conversion
Transfer case has a Tera 2lo fitted
Mile marker hydro winch [ for sale ]
The best top roof I sold
The lift kit that it has, has got to go. I'm not sure as of what to replace it with yet but I'm moving in the direction of 4 link rear and 3 link front,when I have the money
All the interior is coming out so I can build a custom dash and a full cage
Its running on 35x12.50x15 BFG mt,s
And it will have tube fenders all round
[attachment=1] As it stood 25/01/13

[attachment=3][attachment=4] Chop chop
[attachment=5]
[attachment=6 Found this small hole in the chassis by the top of the shock mount
I will post more info and pics as it takes shape

Hate to say it but YJ's/CJ's and anything from a cart spring era should stay as such, if nothing more than to keep the charm. they worked extremely well for many many years and if rebuilt and modifyied correctly will still serve purpose extremely well.
Its like buying a series landy and popping it on a coil sprung rrc chassis, the truck almost instantly looses its appeal. `just my 2 bob

Willo you surprise me at times but you are correct. I am not yet decided on the suspension but to stay with leafs would be a lot less money. And the fact that Wrex Racing deal with Synergy, getting a set of good springs is alot easier. To change over to 4 link and 3 link with coil overs there would be no change out of £5000 and that is a deciding factor.
Jez you are not wrong it is going to get stretched and your mind of info will be picked  :098: Again

Don't forget the XJ leaf spring swap to stretch the wheelbase.
