So one small plate turned into a 7 hour weldathon, and sadly the other side is just as bad :010:
As some of youy know, the chassis has already broken in half (at Clyro, 170 mile drive home....) and been replaced

And here's what the steering box was clinging on to

As you rightly put it a picture speaks more than a 1000 words. Nice to have the means & skills to address it and save the truck.
Something the majority of birties dont't have me thinks.
-
For anyone else that's a :die: moment

I agree, and it does help to have a fully equipped bodyshop to play in.
This is my day job....

Don't take it the wrong way Paul, but looking at the pictures one could get the impression that post-wheeling pressure washing isn't a priority for you. I can't help but wonder if that had anything to do with your issues.
Having said that, i've just gone and had a look at my YJ tub and can't figure out how that much crud could have collected in that cavity. It looks like it's sealed to me. :017:
(makes a mental note to go and poke the same area with a screwdriver, in daylight... :003:)
-
Pressure washing? Yeah, C-, must try harder...... :jpshakehead:
We had a rust free '95 (galvanised) tub. On that there was a grommet underneath. I'm guessing the grommet disappeared years ago to be replaced by about a kilo of wet mud.
I think the problem with my Jeep is it's past life. It's 20 years old and has been abused off road for at least the last 16 of those. It's going to catch up with it eventually. It's a Jeep thing...... :003:
