When putting 3" pucks on a standard TJ Will standard shocks still work? Or do I need to install longer shocks? Basically I want a 3" budget lift or the largest without changing shocks
-
Spacer lifts really are a cheap way of doing it and 3" lift by spacers seems mental to me but I freely admit I waste money on my Jeep. You will need to space the shocks as a minimum but why not treat the Jeep to at least some cheapo new shocks?
-
I'm sure Rough Country do a packaged lift kit that does 1 1/4" body lift and 2" suspension lift for a few hundred.
Pucks and body lifts ideally should be as small as possible they are the weak link in the flexy brakey disaster squeaky what's that noise department :icon_twisted:
-
Thanks for the info guys. i will look around for some kits on ebay. I will stick to 2" pucks. If I go down the pick route.
-
better to get springs and shocks, best way to go. If you go pucks you will end up doing it in the long run
is your TJ totally stock ? If it is there are a couple of things you can do to improve your off roading before lifting or do you just want it to look taller on the street ???
-
I only want it to look better on the street to be honest. I use it to carry my motocross bike around and drive it offroad at bike events but not intending to offroad it on courses.
-
first thing is fit 31" tyres on your stock wheels, you may have to adjust steering stops but its easy to do
if you still want more height then 2" pucks is cheapest way to do it unless you come across a second hand lift kit :greggmo:

What are the biggest width tyres
I can get on stock wheels please?
-
assuming 15" standard rims (7.5") go for 31x1050x15
-
These can help - they extend your shock mounting point up and can be made or bought. An okay way to gain 1-2" and match the spacer.

I think 31x10.5x15 chunky tyres on standard wheels, a 1-1.5" spring spacer and maybe a 1" body lift would give you quite a transformed looking TJ that would be pretty good offroad too
-
I've purchased some 2" spring spacers. Will I need to mod the shocks of will they stretch to fit?
Also can someone please explain how does the body lift work? Will I need to modify anything if I add a 1" lift here?
Cheers
