I have a set of steel modulars at the moment with 255/70/15 general grabbers AT2. I'm lifting the xj 5" soon so want bigger tyres on the truck. I heard of 31,33" tyres but what's the size guide for my steels?
Cheers

31x10.50 or 12.50
-
I'm pretty sure they will be the same size as a Wrangler that being 15 x 8" wheels, you should have no problems fitting 33x12.50x15 tyres on it. I'm not sure about the 35"s but someone else might be able to advise.
-
Yep, 35.12.5s will go nicely on a 8" rim
-
Altho Ezz has real life experience that says otherwise the accepted rule of the thumb is that the width of the wheel shouldnt be less than 4" narrower than the tyre width
-
Yep, I agree, a 12.5" wide tyre on a 8" wide rim is close the the limit, works well Offroad
I'd say probably gives a bit more tyre roll on the Tarmac tho..

Yeah true,
Been measuring today the wheel arches for clearance. With a 5" lift I might have to make some body modification to make them fit.
So go for the 33x10.50x15 then?
Anyone fitted 33" without altering the body?
-
That lift and tyres should work ok

No - unless you restrict up movement so that they do not get to the arches - but that would just be for looks, and not for using them

10.50 will tuck up better ans are better in mud
