Title: Standard XJ Stereo Removal
Post by: XJ Fan on February 28, 2013, 06:26:59 PM
Not sure if this is the correct area, so please move if not.

Does anyone know how to remove standard stereo from an XJ? I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks in advance!

 :imwitstupid:

If its a facelift (as I remember) you need to remove the facia panel on the centre console by pulling it out from the bottom.   Its just on clips that press fit. I seem to recall that the cigarette lighter wires stay attached so watch out for that. Once thats off its obvious- you can see the bolts holding the stereo in place.

Yup

Bottom corners need to be yanked forwards (towards rear of Jeep), it feels brutal but the clips pull out fine. Wires for headlight adjustment switch stay attached iirc but can be unclipped once it's off. Then it's two bolts that are obvious
