Afternoon all,
The XJ has been sounding quite loud lately, a little bit like the exhaust is blowing, but the exhaust itself from the cat back sounds fine. I think it does sound like an exhaust blow when I stick my head under the bonnet. Even my mum told me it sounded loud compared to her TJ.
It has also been sounding quite tappety, regardless of how much/what type or oil is in it.
Does this sound like it could be my exhaust manifold leaking??
The exhaust type sound sometimes seems louder when it's in drive or reverse for some reason - maybe due to the load on the engine? :017:
I've taken a (bad) video, but I've not listened to it on proper speakers so I don't know how well it captures it!

Turn the radio up it ain't blowing bad.
Look out for one of them fancy manifolds with the spring bits built into it,apparently it stops the problem of manifold cracking.

Yeah, it doesn't really bother me - I just like to know what's causing it. :003:
You think that I've diagnosed it correctly then??

:hysterical: :hysterical: Nope, but what mum says goes :003:
