Title: TJ metal flares from Metal Cloak (are they legal in the UK?)
Post by: Cockney Boy on March 23, 2013, 07:29:31 PM
The plastic ones I have are showing their age and have. Few battle scars so been looking at the Metal Cloak ones, but the question is would the 6" ones catch the eye of a Wrozzer?

if the tread portion of your tyre is covered and there are no sharp edges then all should be good

Then they won't be allowed over here  :010:

I've e-mailed them to see if they're willing to make some 7" extended to cover the tyre tread a bit more.

CB a couple of comments
what tyre is that diagram based on?
The rules used to be (fast fords - silly wheels reverse rims etc etc) that viewed fro the vertical mid point of the tyre the trad had to be covered
the diagram isnt a million miles away
I had looked at these huge amount of extra clearence

the ones in that advert are a bit slick though, with the bolt on extra flare for road use, TBH I can see why they cost so much,

but as as Jez says more than enough capable people over here who can fab what you need, Gregs had the idea to knock these out for a while, def worth a chat with him

The fact that they are a direct bolt on appeals to me as there is zero faf and it it ever did become an issue with the Police i can stick the standard wings back on easily  :icon_super:

I would double check that m8, looks like a 2 piece replacement for original wings to me

as long as the tyre is covered so that "rooster tails" are minimised and a portion of the top of the tyre is covered then you wont have an issue.

IVA requirements:

Wheel arches must be ‘turned inwards’, or have a radius of curvature of at
least 2.5mm
