I may have a use for my current CJ7's steering box, which will give me the opportunity to upgrade the one on my keeper CJ7, especially as it will have to deal with a lot more stress, so what's the thoughts/ideas/experiences on a strong but not overly complicated upgrade?
Cheers gents :greggmo:

Seems the J20 is the easiest upgrade according to Jeep Forum, with just the only change needed is the bell shaped coupler on the end of the steering shaft. They take one from a manual CJ shaft. ($30 at Quadratec)
Any expeirences?
Its gonna have D44's, 35's, lockers & the 401 so needs to be beefy

Anything wrong with the current one ?
If not and its an original CJ7, can I have first dibs.
Still dont know if mine is fooked or not, I've just been ignoring it the last few weeks since I haven't driven it.

Is yours manual steering at the moment BD?

power
if i do it & dont use it elsehwere Dutch then yup, no probs

My advice is to leave it alone then as the J series and CJ boxes look identical although they may be valved differently internally but i wouldn't of thought to an extent that it was noticeable :017:
Anyway its not the box that will be the problem but the chassis and the bracket that holds the box on the chassis that i would worry about first. :icon_winkle:
Oh and the idiot driving of course :003:
