Just a quick question, and hopefully obvious for those in the know; What is the maximum size tyre I can fit to a standard wheel, and to an XJ with standard suspension (i.e. no lift).
I have second set of wheels which I want to fit some off-road tyres to, so I can switch between them and my on-road set as I need.
Any help will be great, thanks! :)

235/75/15 is about as big as you'd want to go on standard suspension.

Excellent, thanks! :icon_winkle:

Next question; When buying tyres of this size, are there any makes/companies I should avoid?
I found these: http://www.camskill.co.uk/m26b0s95p59586/Insa_Turbo_Tyres_SUV_4x4_Insa_Turbo_Special_Track_-_235_75_R15_105Q_TL_
but only have experience with car tyres, and have not heard of this brand before, are they any good?

Good tyre but not for road use

Insa are remoulds and we have seen side wall repairs on brand new tyres (which is not legal to do). Even seen two repairs on one tyre.
Discovery STT's have excellent road manners, excellent off road as well, good price as well, I got 31" x 10.5 x 15 for £72 & vat and delivered within the hour...
If you haven't already junk your rear anti roll bar...
This book is excellent and covers from starting to full blown XJ's

I have the STTs on mine and as Maf said they are very good on the road... You can still chuck it around like it has road tyres on

I've got Mickey Thompson's on mine (Baja Claw) no noise on road and great off road
