I recently install a 2.5" lift on my TJ, but my almost new 30" BFG ATs looks, well a bit small and out of place on it now..
I also got a set of 31" BFG MTs, but these tyres are unevenly worn, 2 of them have little treat left, so need to replace the lot and get it back on the Jeep
so my options are
* BFG MT KM2 - cheapest I can find them is £123 a corner
* Cooper STT - cheapest I can find the is £99 a corner
I know that there is loads of tales on the net re BFG vs Cooper, but going for the the Coopers could save me £100 in total, money towards something else.. :)
So, what's your guys thoughts, experience with either one or both of these tyres.. Or any other radical thoughts...
-
without reading what ya had put i was already gonna put coopers
-
they are both good tyres, go with what your pocket tells you :greggmo:

Why??
Price/performance/looks/etc
-
Cooper SST's all the way better than BFG's and much cheaper
-
have both and coopers IMHO look better, and that is my main vibe :003:
however, not bein able to sling cash around like its mud led me to spend hours trawlin the web and i couldnt find a duff write up for coopers, nor TBH the BFG, but therefore there is no justification on the extra £sss
-
Very true point!
-
KM2's are a ruddy good tyre, so much so I have them on two of my vehicles.
-
they sound ghay tho

-
To get back to the tyres...
As these new ones will stay on the Jeep.. hows the road manners wet and dry-any preference??
-
Have a look at the GT Radials Adventuros. I've got them on my XJ, and so far really impressed both on and off road
-
Have had the older classic BFG muds and Cooper STT on my XJ and did lotsts for on and offroad miles on both 20k+
Nothing really anything between them, I'd go for the Coopers if buying again, they are slightly tougher sidewalls, work a tiny bit better offroad if you air them down low and are slightly better on wet roads but it's all small differences. The price helps too.
-
I understand that BFG addressed the MTs road manners with the new km2...
Think I'm leaning towards the BFGs... Well at this stage that is
-
thus provin my mrs right damn you :011:
ask questions, then when you get the answers that all say the same thing, ignore them and go with the answer that you wanted to hear, not what was actually said :lol_hitting:
-
had both bfg and coopers. for me coopers all the way. they are the size they say for starters and on the black stuff you really wouldnt know you are on muds. but each to their own. both will serve you well.
-
I would go Stt's all the way if it was between BFG and STT''s. I choose the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw for something different. But I would have had the STT's if I hadn't. The old BFG M MT's were a good tyre as I had these originally, however the tread pattern on the KM2's is no where near as aggressive and thus I can't see them wbeing as good on the dirty stuff. Why pay more for the same thing or should I say a lesser quality tyre. Buy the STT'S and be done with it.

Think you just nailed it with this comment .. Sort of advise I was looking for :)
