Morning has anyone had a problem with battery drain on a WJ. Ive had the starter, battery and alternator checked all ok. Leave it a few days and then need to jump start it. If I have to I will but an isolator switch on the battery but would really like to solve the hiccup. So if anyone has had an identical problem would really like to hear please :ecomcity:

What's the battery draining when standing still? If its drawing Anymore than 700ma then you've got something like a faulty radio/immobiliser or could be engine management related.
Get a multi meter and do an amps test before you do anything else. Also even tho the battery checked out you might want to try a different one

Interior light set/dim switch ? one notch too high and it drains the whole show.

Took the truck to a good garage who works on my cars (reputable) yday and he says battery (4 months old) alternator and starter A1.
-
Nice one Dutch will try that tonight

That's all great but what is the truck drawing when at rest? Report back please :)
-
Will have to go back to garage for that figure !
-
If you've got a multi meter then you can do it yourself :)
-
:iagree:
put an ammeter in series with the poss terminal of the battery and see what you get
-
Spanners and hammers yes, electrikery nowt.
-
it could be the alternator diode it'll still show a charge. failing that check the silly stuff like glovebox/underbonnet light staying on you'll be amazed how many times they've been at fault.
-
Hi BVM ive cheched all lighting and nothing on when car stationary. Cheers though.

Just a thought..I had a similar problem a while ago. It turned out to be a cd changer, under the back seat, had been wired in wrong..radio could be turned off, but changer still had power going to it...flat battery after three days!!
-
:icon_redface: Dont have one of those :010:
-
Ok..cross that idea off the list.
-
had this with mine, twas the battery :icon_winkle:
put a new battery on it, been fine ever since !
I still have the old battery here still got 12/13 volts still won't start the jeep, :017: go figure :jpshakehead:
-
its the current the battery will supply when loaded, volts at rest means nowt :icon_winkle:
-
I know that :098:
but does stuart :003: and his tester mate :003:
-
i'd get the battery "load tested" then if that's ok get a reading of the battery then reconnect the leads then take another next step remove the fuses one at a time till you find the faulty circuit
-
My uncle had a very similar problem. Been looking for the problem for ages.
You could try pulling one fuse at a time until you narrow it down to the culprit. Time consuming but you'll get there in the end.

a battery can get memory effect if your just doing short runs a then not using the car
the battery only remembers that it has a short charge capacity
