Title: XJ steering wobble
Post by: just-boot-it! on April 28, 2013, 07:52:27 PM
Recently my XJ has developed a steering wobble. As you leave a tight turn like a lunction and lightly hold the wheel it wobbles untill the steering is straight. The fluid is level, can you get blockages in the system?

ball joints..... Only takes one that's not well to cause this.......

Unless you got a lift ......then could be a catalogue of things that can occur........ Lifted or no????

best thing to do is jack it up put on axle stands and have a wriggle of wheels whilst looking.... Best if help is at hand to assist.....

also the MOT mans trick

When on axle stands and wheel is half inch off ground....... Put long pry bar or wrecking bar or crow bar under wheel and lift if there is any movement of bits that shouldn't move ......there's your problem.......
