Title: 2002 WJ Grand C, heater blend door ('s ?) fooked
Post by: the exile on May 20, 2013, 12:37:30 PM
Hi good people,
Clearly a common problem and the drivers side is only blowing cold with the passenger side still working.
I've been on ebay and will probably buy genuine replacements, £121 ish.
I've also been on you-tube to see what needs to be done.
I kind of understand the repair needed but my question is that on you-tube videos no-one has replaced the middle pannel in the airbox after cutting it out thereby leaving no seperation from the left and right blend doors. Surely this will result in there being no seperation in the blended air for left and right vents. Is it better to reinstate the middle panel or does it not really make much difference.
I hope this makes sense to you all and I look forward to your advice.
Thanks, Ged  :icon_biggrin:

That separator doesn't do anything as it's upstream of the blend doors, which do the dividing of the air to left and right.

I chopped it out completely but left the bit near to the pivot point of the doors in case they tended to twist when opening and closing, although you can watch them operate and I think it's unlikely that even that is needed.
