Title: 2.5TD Assisstance
Post by: XJ Fan on June 24, 2013, 07:27:52 PM
Howdy all,

I want to check to see if my AFM and injector no1 are working correctly, therefore I need to know where they are so I can test them. I'm not new to mechanical stuff, and have done quite a bit of work on previous cars that I have owned, however the XJ is a entirely new beasty to me, and well, I need some help.

Logic tells me the AFM will be on the air intake somewhere near the airbox, but I'm buggered if I can see it. As for the injector, I would assume it is the one nearest the front of the engine bay, but if I am to unplug the sensor, what cable is that?

Sorry if I sound dumb (I'm not really), but I'm just a novice with this vehicle, and don't know anyone in person who knows Jeeps who I can lean on for help - so over to you lot!

Thanks in advance

dont want to sound negative but the diesel needs to be prevented from over heating so make sure the cooling system is clean with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze otherwise you will be in for a high garage repair bill. dont really recall any problems with the AFM for the duration i owned one but the No.1 injector has a resistance of 140 ohms give or take 10. if the resistance changes then the jeep goes into limp home mode and the check engine light gets illuminated.
unfortunately you can run without as it senses the firing order of the engine. google maybe your best search for an online manual of watch ebay for one.
