Hi Chaps,
I have a GC problem or if you prefer I have a problem GC ! All four brakes are too hot to touch even after a shortish run. The car stops fine with no sticking of the brakes, handbrake works fine and releases ok. Had all 4 wheels off to inspect brake pads and discs and can see no problem. I dont want to start stripping things down till I've got a better idea of where the problem might be. Basically I can't see why all 4 brakes should get hot ! Doh! Any ideas ? :010:
Cheers, Rob

If they're not sticking or dragging I'd guess they're just doing what they do.
When you say short journeys how short exactly?
Likewise, when you say hot- how hot.
Brakes work by converting kinetic energy into heat so they get damn hot under normal conditions.

Couple of miles and they're too hot to touch !

My ol' rally car would end stages on tarmac events with the discs glowing orange and it still stopped fine.
Unless they're stinking or fading I wouldn't worry TBH.

I'd be more concerned that you have a Jeep with a working handbrake, almost unheard of :hysterical: :hysterical:

Sounds quite normal. As NB says though- there's definitely something wrong with ya handbrake.
That's not supposed to work!

thanks for the replies chaps, I am now officially "Not Worried". Just see how it goes is my favourite fix :greggmo:
Still chortling about the "working handbrake" Never thought of that ! :icon_biggrin:

my 2001 GC's brakes get to around 50-60c with normal driving measured with one
of those laser pointing temp reader things, they start smoking at around 160 c.
