Title: Banzai axle question
Post by: Dtimot8 on July 06, 2013, 06:48:39 PM
Hi My fellow techy chaps (How ironic is part of that that statement)
other than the Currie sticker on the side
can any one identify the front axle on this truck
which seems to do quite well at this extreme trial

Lord Tim...... Would be cheaper for you to look for a sad old 1 Ton pick up to pillage.......

Even £4-5k which sounds a lot........ AND IS :hysterical: would be less than your're going to get raped for 2 specialist axles from the land of sceptics :icon_twisted:

I seem to remember.....Simon from Bucks Jeeps coughed for £12 k for his 60's (someone will correct me doubtless if I am wrong :icon_twisted:)

Many thanks for your input chaps
as you know all spannering given to grown ups so i want to try and make the right decision
WW thank you for your fine offer but ...
Not that i know what i is on about but i don't want to go to d60's or equivalent
I was discussing this with Mr Dodd at Walter's and i managed to a complete circular argument starting with dynatrac prorock 44 and 37inch tyres
and then ending up back at keeping everything as it is - and just use the damn thing
I'm going to do just that for the time being and see what happens
A bit whimpy i know

Being an abuser of axles....... I can safely say that I never broke my Dana 44 rear with 35s and a locker....and it was with standard shafts......

The front was with warn shafts and better UJs .......the more expensive ones......... Yes I broke the UJs but only when at full lock without stops in.......my own fault.....

so........leave the rear as is till you break it...... You won't......... :icon_twisted:

And carry spares complete inner outer assembled.......for each side at the front.......Tragic does this and it paid off for him at CF last year....... 30 mins off and then back in action. :icon_twisted:

Tis the cheap and cheerful solution :icon_super:

I think between you and WW (my thanks as always) my questions and mental wanderings are answered
whimp out and drive the damned thing

Only took 30 minutes because I made bacon sarnies whilst doing it :icon_super:
Actually took longer to drink my beer than to change the shaft  :003:
