no body knows then

Think you will find that 2.4's are as rare as rocking horse shit.
-
Are you sure it is the fuel pump? I seem to recall an electrical sound when mine was switched off, I'm sure the oil pump and/or the coolant pump continue to aid cooling.

:017: Looks like the site's personalized 24/7 technical support line is down..
Oh, wait. There isn't one. :icon_rolleyes:

And it's a 2.5, not a 2.4.
Not being argumentative, but I'm fairly sure you could get a 2.4 petrol in KJs, there just aren't that many about. 8-)
-
You are quite right Bryn..you could get a 2.4 petrol in a KJ, but I wasn't aware that they continued into the 2005 model (I'm ready to be corrected tho').
-
Dropped the lil' 4 potter in 06.
-
According to the bible, the 2.4 was dropped in 2005..if it turns out that you actually have a 2.5crd, then I have a pretty good idea what that noise is.
-
My neighbour has a 2005 model 2.4 petrol manual, which he has owned for 5 years now. He bought it just after I bought my 2005 2.8crd auto, which I kept for 3 years before getting a JK.
I do recall hearing the liquid movement noise after turning off the ignition, which I assumed was the fluids draining back to the bottom of the engine / transmission etc, or to ensure that the engine doesn't overheat - the fan also continued to operate for a while after as well.
-
it is a 2005 model petrol and its a 2429cc
cheers for the replies i will have to have a good look.

I do remember way back when we first got the XJ, I did notice that it made a liquid-like noise for a little bit after shutting it off - I think it might have been from the fuel tank area when it was relatively full. I rarely more than 2/3 fill it now though, so haven't noticed it lately.
And being an XJ it's probably completely different anyway :lol_hitting:
