Title: CJ side markers
Post by: xr6jeeper on July 21, 2013, 10:43:01 AM
The side markers on my cj are all orange, i think the rears should be red so i was toying with the idea of wiring them all into the indicators (front and rear) anybody else done this, should be perfectly legal shouldnt it ?

MOT testers manual states...

2.  Operate the left and right direction indicators in turn and check:

d. that every direction indicator emits amber light (except vehicles first used before 1 September 1965)

It says first used, I have no idea if that would mean first registered in UK or not.

I might be slightly different but I used the front amber ones as indicators and the rear red ones as tail lights/side markers

Did you connect the front ambers to the indicators or has it always been like that, mine have always been amber front and rear and normally come on with the side lights which i think is wrong, so im gonna make them all indicators.

No I wired them that way when I rebuilt it, I've got the small (park lights) at the front as indicators
