Hi All i have blown the 2.5cc engine in my TJ {no 4 piston broke up??} & have been offered a 2.5cc engine from a YJ... My TJ is a 2000 model sport with the carb engine, are the 2 engines the same &/or will it fit into my TJ .. thanks for your help...

you sure it's a carb?
think that is the throttle body.......
If its got a distributor and spark plugs like cars used to then the YJ variant is the same......best have a look cos the seller might not be as well informed as you think?

yeah sorry Not a carb!! But it dose have a distributor & plugs.. my logbook says its 2498cc so i think its the 2.5. fitteted in the 2000 TJ.... I have not sean the YJ engine & was worried that it may be the 2.4cc fitted to the eaely YJs were these card engines? thanks

No . All YJ engines were 2.5 with injection so you should be OK get the ECU and as much wiring and sensors as possible cos you can bet the buggers changed some'at to help the planet or some Ghay shit.
Useless Piece of info........ That 2.5 with injection was also used on the last. CJs and the other CJ engine option for that year, the Carb fed 4.2 made less BHP in that guise.....
Torque thingies were a different matter of course :icon_twisted:
The 2.4 was a late. TJ engine and very few in this country.......apparently like to be turbo'd with OK effect :icon_twisted:

If you need to buy an ECU i think i have a YJ one in the garage I took out of a wrangler YJ

It will go in but there are differences. You'd be better to get the right one. The 97 on XJ has the same engine.

Ill have a TJ engine and box for sale next year with 35000 on the clock out of a 98.
