Evening, new member just about to embark upon DIY maintenance of a 2009 WK 3.0 CRD.
Ive had the car a while but now it's out of warranty there's no way they're getting £100 an hour out of me for service
Problem is there's bits and pieces that will become clear but at the moment......
First question is will my car have a particulate filter ?
Looking underneath I reckon the cat is just about vertical heading up from the exhaust at the back the engine compartment. The only connection to it looks like the lambda near the top of it.
There's no other pipes or connectors go to it if Im in the correct area.
Is my first investigation correct ?
Reason for asking is apparently a particulate filter version uses 0 or 5 w40 oil whereas no particulate uses 0 or 5 w30 I'm told.

Ring your local (yeah I know) main dealer with the chassis number and they can easily check, this takes out all the guess work!! And best of all it's free.

Good idea but wait for this.............
They didn't know, or so they said , without looking at the vehicle.
I've previously described them as crap, I may be reviewing my opinion soon

They can dial in the data card, this tell's if it was fitted from the factory, honestly it's no big deal and easy to do if you have access to the system.

Lmao, I don't doubt for a minute what you're saying and thank you for the info.
However, let me put our dealer in context, I went in a short while back and spoke to the service manager. The conversation went something like this.......
Me , how's it going as the new dealer? Did you get any of the techies to come from the other place?
Him, no but these guys have all don't the courses and of course we've been doing fiat for ages. The engine in your grand is a version we've worked on are familiar with.
Me, mines got the Merc v6
Him (after a stunned silence) well they're not that much different.
