Guys,
I have a knocking noise coming from front left wheel area.
How would I know if its the wheel bearing or something else with out stripping it all down - is there a way to get halfway there?
Its definitely worse on a cold morning- like just now. I found a dirt road on way home and put it in 4wh- on putting back in 2wd drive it seem as if it was still in 4wd! moved it out and back in again - this time was a bit noisier but...
Trying to work out what it is to be able to order the correct stuff and not being to offay with these type of things wondered if you guys had pointers. If no joy it looks like it will be off to a stealership :icon_sad:

Jack up so the wheel is off the ground, Grasp wheel top and bottom and try to rock, any play will be in the wheel bearing.
Grasp wheel at front and back and try to rock, any play here will be in steering components. Lastly turn wheel or get someone else to do it whilst looking for movement in the U/J.
You can drop the wheel back down and get a friend to rock the steering wheel side to side whilst you look at or put your hand on all the joints to see/feel any movement.
Good luck
