Title: Engine cut off when stopping xj4.0
Post by: jarekjeep on August 11, 2013, 04:31:31 PM
Hi it starts couple days ago, yesterday I had the problem to start engine in the morning-?after 10 times it started. I mean It started and stop??? When rise up the rpm to 1.5k engine worked than when I took my feet of acceleration pedal it cut off. Couple days before I start had problems with staring it during the day. First start in the morning always was ok. Strange for me. Please drop some lines.... I can't always say to my my wife "it's jeep thing" when she ask me why we not going.

Just a thought , have you had battery probs. With mine sometimes with a low batt i start it and then need to keep it running at about 2000 revs for about 2 mins prior to moving off then it settles down and no probs. Think its a memory thingy but someone else may know the reasons for this...

:iagree: Could be either of above. If you have had battery problems try Ted's solution first.

My top suspects would be battery and connections, then possibly a sticking IAC if it's cutting out at idle.
