Been going through a few jobs that need doing on the TJ today. When I picked her up last week the PO told me that the starter turned over very slowly but because it always started he never bothered trying to fix it.
It is very very slow and makes you think it's not going to start but after 3-4 groans it starts.Battery is fully charged but the starter does drain the battery, you can see the dials going up and down as it is cranking.
Would it just be the starter or should I look further? I thought it might be a poor earth??

No 1. Battery fully charged?
No 2. earth as you suggested.
No 3. new big fat cables to starter and new crimp on terminals will help.
No 4. has PO filled starter with mud.....I did and it slowed with mud in. dismantled and cleaned, and now back to normal.

Go with No4, I've had the same, it was the starter. Have a spare ready to fit usually.

1.Yes Battery fully charged
2.Will check that
3.Will do that also
4.Big possibility as engine compartment and everything else covered in mud when I picked her up.
Will have to wait for next weekend to try anything as no time Monday to Friday :010:
