Title: Help with the shifty lever thing
Post by: Dtimot8 on December 22, 2013, 05:38:17 PM
NO not the lever that looks a bit unusual but the low box shift lever in a TJ
Other than the ver faithfully lighties (hopefully) where can i get some of fixtures* that hold the plate on to the transmission tunnel
* fixtures as they are a combination of rubber grommet and riv-nut with a little tab to stop them spinning
Regrettably they are pretty knackered and are now spinning
or does someone have a whiz bang alternative
I thought in my highly techy way about welding a nut on the back
any thoughts
many thanks in advance
The other spannering one from Maidstone

if I have read this correctly the rivnuts are shot?

No prob .... Riv nut kits are cheap and look like a rivet gun....... Got one here if ya want it sent riv nuts are cheap as chips even for the larger ones..... Drill new holes blah blah.....

Or......have I misread this....... And your shifty lever is uncle dick? Cos Novak do a wiz bang fix that makes things more direct......... :icon_super:

ahh Wllo
i was on the case and thinking along the same lines - that a picture speaks better english than what i does
Hope these up load ok
these show the bracket the grommet the fixing and where it goes
Jez i have looked at a few of the whiz bang versions but most are for Auto's or need work that is far beyond my skills

Is it not possible to connect a rod/ lever directly to the. Transfer case so you have 'direct shifting '
Think I looked at this on the YJ and would mean lever pattern works in reverse but you also have no sillybollix of levers and bushes attached to body that ...... For example refuse to function when you have a body lift.

Just a mad idea to make life simple :icon_super:

Clean all the individual bits and pieces to best advantage and stick back together using "Sikaflex 221", brilliant stuff but don't make a mess or you'll be sorry!
