Title: scanner codes
Post by: nimrug on December 27, 2013, 03:09:06 PM
high all I have a 2005 Cherokee jk jeep,
an orange light came up on the dash, and when I looked to find out it said its a multi functional light, I have a scanner to find out the codes, but where in the hell do you plug it in I cant find the socket  perhaps I'm not looking in the right place or my eyes are getting bad.
cheers john..

No idea where it is on yours, but on my KJ it was just in front of my left knee, tucked under the panel..they hide them in some funny spots.

Beneath the steering wheel by the door if I remember correctly.  You can't miss it since it is a big socket, although it is possible it may have a cover on it.

I put the scanner on it and it came up with code 0420, when I looked it up in the book it said catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)
what ever that means.
cheers. john..

Did you clear the code?  Then take it for a run and try your code reader again, it may be an old stored code  if it's on again you have a fault .........
