Hi all, the springs on my 74 cj5 need to be replaced, back r/h side is sagging quite a bit and it rides like a tank, I am going to put a 2.5" lift and wondering if anyone has done the yj conversion? Is it worth the hassle? Anyone know where to sorce a 2.5" lift in the uk either narrow cj5 springs or 2.5" wide yj springs?

Try Steve Fagioli at FTE Engineering down Wickford Essex....
he deals with Rubicon Express and having had their 2.5" lift and the 4.5" lift can say they are good as leaves go .......
RE also do a 1.5" lift that is meant for SOA as the eyes are reversed but people use it as a spring under to get the 1.5" lift....... Low is good mantra at the moment :icon_twisted:
Or get YJ springs from USA automotive standard size..... Chances are you will get an inch or so lift as the CJ5 is relatively light in weight.
Not sure about spring length but with welding and or outboarding shackles front and rear most things are achievable.

Or Dave at Llama 4x4 will be able to get you a Rough Country lift, you are a bit limited without doing some cutting and welding on both the chassis and axles due to the narrowness of the springs.

Dan at www.ruffstuffspecialies.com
Does shackles in various lengths that have an offset of 1/4" each plate side so two of them gives you a shackle that is 1/2" wider enabling you to use wrangler springs and CJ chassis mounts.....
There ya go........Knew the answer was locked in the brain somewhere :icon_super:

Go llama and get the correct kit unless you WANT yj springs for the modification dont chop it about for the sake of cheaper any old spring you can lay your hands on

:iagree: have a prcomp 2.5" lift on my 74 cj5. Dave at llama is a sound fellow.

No sorry, it's not about chopping it for a cheaper solution, in fact it would be more expensive as i would need all the yj mounting brackets and shackles, I was just reading up on the american sites and they all seem to say the yz springs are a better ride and last longer (of course they say that their way is better and the best), oh by the way I am Canadian living in Ireland :icon_winkle: I'll get a hold of liama 4x4 and get the propper cj5 kit from them
