Title: Bleed nipples
Post by: IrishCJ6 on February 05, 2014, 09:57:19 PM
The 2 front caliper bleed nipples on the Jeep are shagged, anyone know where to get replacement ones from? Not sure on size think they are M10x1, the banjo thread at the hose is the odd M10x1.5 size if it make a diff. maybe they are the same size? Calipers are Wagoneer/GM 1/2 ton units.

Yep positive, it was a SSBC conversion kit. Early ones were 7/16 but mine use 10mm banjos as I found out when I broke a brake hose and had to replace. The thread though is course and a standard metric 10mm bolt screws straight in (10x1.5)

A good blow lamp is your friend

If its an ssbc conversion and uses metric nipples yo can bet a pound to a pinch of shit the calipers are from a jap import

Not quite so, seems GM converted to Metric but instead of going fine pitch like the rest they kept to standard and thus are M10x1.5. Have ordered some so they are available. Gm in later converted over the to the norm a few years later.

What about the tried and tested motorboat method? This normally frees the nipples !!

Everytime I tried that technique I ended up with even stiffer nipples like when you use ice.
