Title: cherokee mk1 1995 2.5 engine swap with 1996 cherokee engine,
Post by: wheeler7534 on March 30, 2014, 10:56:28 PM
Hi guys,
I posted this similar subject on another topic but have found out some things since that which make the title completley different and was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me please. I have a mk1 cherokee 1995 n reg with a knackered engine and have bought another engine as a replacement which is a n reg 1996 (mk1 i beleieve)? 2.5 . Since returning home with the engine and comparing side by side i have noticed that the glow plugs are in different locations. My engine fitted has the glowplugs in the side of the cylinders connected together with a metal plate it looks liie to pass current to all four, and the replacement engine has them above the injectors on the top! Im figuring i can easily mod the glow plug connectors ro work the others? Also i wwnt to use my injectors as i know they work spot on and would i be riggt in saying they are programmed to my ecu? Finally can anyone else think of any other things that may require any additional work for the mechanic making it not possible as i dontbwant to waste his time and my money! Are the engine mounts going to fit the same. Thanks alot guys and i look forward to hearing your advice!
