today was alittle warm at though l try ac to see how it worked
only have the cherokee crd diesel a month, its 2002
so ac worked fine and after 10 mins turned off, about a hour later ,turn normal intake for cool air and no air.turn up to last and no air,fan switch not working, checked all the fuses and nothing, tryed again and nothing
havent tryed the relay fuse as have no way too
any ideas
cheers

Have you turned the a/c switch to the OFF position by any chance?
-
if you turn to left ,it enables the ac and to right for normal setting
have tryed in all positions and no noise from fan, even in hot postion
tryed all dials
checked fuses,all fine
one thing l noticed is you ever heard the fan when on highist setting in 4,nothing in 2 and 3 position
-
checked the relay today and all ok
so looks like l be taking it to dealer

This is how it works.......
You have already found the relay under the hood. This should have a permanent fed to pin 30 from fuse 1 (40A) under the hood.
It should have an ignition feed to pin 86
It should be grounded on pin 85
Pin 87 should go to the blower motor on a red / light brown wire.
On the other side of the motor is a black / tan wire which ultimateley goes to ground. If you short this wire to ground with the ignition on the blower should run flat out., if it doesn't, and the wiring to/from the relay and motor is all good, the motor may be duff.
If the motor is good, trace the wiring to the heater resistor in the ducting behind the glovebox lid. The black / tan wire goes here, and there should be four wires going to the heater control panel. Depending on which speed is selected at the panel, one of the four wires will be grounded via the control panel, giving four speeds. If you ground each one in turn and can replicate this, the switch assembly is faulty or isn't grounded. If only the high speed works like this (still black / tan), the resistor pack is probably faulty.

mike
dont know if this gives any ideas
other speed from 1 to 3 never worked, only high speed at 4 in heater and air con
-
Could well be the resistor pack if hi speed works but the others don't.

cheers mike
will give a go now and let you know
