Borris has sprung a leak from his radiator and so needs a new one....I have done the obvious thing of having a look on fleabay but all the ones there appear to be the same cheap junk ones that he already has fitted... ECP supplies Eis radiators but they are pretty poor quality too so can anyone point me in the right direction for a decent quality radiator?

Had ours re-cored about 18 months ago & all new hoses at the same time including the heater ones. At least you know it will fit, did the same with the Capri rad recently too

If it was a decent quality radiator i the first place then I probably would have it re cored but it is a cheap junk ebay rad so I'm not sure that it is worth it...It seems to be an end cap that has failed.

if it is cheap or been repaired in the past will be the cause of end cap leaks. the end caps are compressed into place with the securing tabs bent into place so a home fix tends not to work. a good radiator place should be able to replace the core with a decent rad and properly crimp the ends into place plus give a years warrantee

Thanks guys, I just wondered if there was one make of radiator that could be recommended.... The joint between the core and the end caps have indeed failed but I didn't want to fit a decent core onto cheap plastic end caps else I would end up with the automotive version of Triggers broom

I fitted a Nissens rad a year or two ago (I forget, I've slept since then). I got it from my local car shop. They are also available on the bay. Nissens are OEM supplier to a lot of manufacturers. It's alli core and plastic tanks but quality should be good, I've certainly had no issues yet.

Thanks JJ I think that a Nissens will be the most reliable option.....I don't have an issue with plastic ends but there seems to be a lit of garbage for sale on ebay.... The rad on Borris didn't appear to e very old when I got him and yet it has failed pretty quickly and is of the same make that was on my previous XJ and that leaked like a sieve when I first got it....I fitted the rad off my first (Early) XJ which was made from copper and despite having lost a lot of fins, was a good tough rad...If I had a copper one, then I would have it re cored...
