As Ive just bought my TJ recently, I have no idea of what wheels are fitted but being doing some work today, involving new drums and studs, what ive noticed is the back of the steel rim only contacts with the drum in two areas, on the lip of the outside face and the inner lip as in where the have shaft comes through the drum, as the rear of the rim is curved so where the holes are situated to take the wheel studs are proud of the drum, are these non Jeep fitment rims is there any other rims out there with the same pcd?, also noticed nuts are soft as out, and when I tighten them up the wheels actually bite into the nut seating face. I have ordered new Nuts from Lighthouse today and will get Monday. is other peeps steel rims flat and flush where it meets the drum?

Steel rims are stamped and will not be flat. The will flex a bit when you tighten the nuts and this all helps keep them from falling off.

If they haven't fallen off by now I should think they're fine.

these arnt curved because of pressing, these are curved by design, the prob here is if I gun them on, I can rattle the centre cap about, I have to tighten them right up to get the centre cap to tighten. then because the outer diameter of contact between the rim and drum is larger than the diameter of the half shaft surface so will be flexing drum and rim causing the clamp effect for the drums being crap, maby hence the holes on the old drums have opened up and the stud threads done in, as on power and braking half shaft will rock in drum holes ?

That's how most of the ones I've seen are, just put them on, tighten nuts to 100 ft lb and you're done. Agree on Jeep nuts though, made of cheese. I got some McGard ones that are much better.

Pressed as in by design and smashed by a big jiant stamping machine in the factory that makes funny shapes out of steel chunks.
Center caps always rattle around even in alli wheels. Put a big rubber band around them before you put them in the wheel and this squashes them in stopping the clinky clinky noises.

Oh there on, they the only set I have and they are tight, forget torque settings, these are tight, see what the new nuts are like monday if no better will look at the ones you mention. cheers.
