Title: CJ7 fuel tank removal
Post by: Dave69 on June 06, 2014, 09:15:09 PM
is this as simple as it sounds?

skid plate off

unbolt tank and drop (removing electrical connections etc)

or are there hidden pit falls.

Just had mine out of the cj5, comes out the bottom. Not that difficult of a job, back skid plate bolts were a bit of a bitch to get at, once that is off, 2 rear bolts on each corner of tank and then 1 in the middle at the front.

Thanks for the offer, now you have me thinking......could be bad. Filler location change not an issue, tank should be 20 gallon

yep what are you asking for it ?

A plastic tank sounds like a good idea, if it fits an all that (thinking of width here) and with a bit of luck it wont be so damn heavy as the original.
Nor will you keep sucking rust particles up the fuel lines or have to worry about cleaning all the wet mud from between the skid plate and tank that makes it rot through from the outside!
I coated the outside of my tank with Durabak before bolting it back in last time. So it may well have holes in the bottom, it just woudnt dare leak past the polyurethane interfay. Well not till I'm miles from civilisation and have forgotten to take a bar of soap for a running repair.

you have a sale there Mr Wildwood, if you could cost a delivery and we will work out funds transfer from there on.

the light weight and rust free is the appealing point
