Short and easy for those in the know.
450w on a single switch, sub 45A draw, heavy duty 100A relay. What size fuse ? :D
Thanks in advance.

Depends what size wire your using too
-
A big one, it won't blow then!

It's running a 30a at the minute, but they've only been running for short periods (couple of minutes) without blowing, was thinking of a 40a. Ideally, I want to run a fuse that's easily picked up from halfruads.
Wire used is matched to the gauge on the bars, (the 20,30&40" all use the same gauge) some fancy double shielded stuff allegedly.
-
keep it simple..... watts divided by volts = 37.5. closest is 40 amp fuse any lower and the fuse will stand a chance of blowing more often. wire guage to suit to prevent the cable from overheating.
have a look at what they sell and obviously the holder as well, you could look at operating them from a fused relay which then save the draw on the loom running through the car
-
Sounds similar to what I said

I assume this is being run directly from the battery and totally seperate to your existing loom?
-
Yeah, it's completly separate from the loom, and the 100A relay was used as it was cheaper than a 50a :)
There's a standard size blade fuse holder in place.
-
Use a large blade fuse like the large ones used in the jeep
-
You could use more than one fuse and one relay and just feed the relays coils from the switch.
That way you can have smaller fuses with less chance of an electrical firework display and also have a bit of redundancy built in if one packs in.
-
As worded by the sparky...build in redundancy

I assume these are for light bars in which case deffo do them separately and then you can impersonate the space ship in Close encounters of the third kind....
You will also need some sort of keyboard rigging up at the same time to play the tune as well though :icon_winkle:
-
Haha, hadn't thought of that. :D
