Title: Anyone recommend me some disconnects?
Post by: tim_aka_tim on May 03, 2006, 08:35:46 PM
Well I had a look at Woody's how to put your spacers in your front suspension guide, and just one snag.... On my particular XJ, for the sway bar link, they decided to use some kind of cheese based substance, and the nut at the top of the link arm isn't budging, its just twisting the arm, even with lots of penetrating oil, and it's just gonna snap the nut off.

Also, messing about with the suspension etc. using the trolley jack, I can see that articulation is fairly cack, so I guess now is the ideal time for some disconnects.

So can anyone recommend some and a supplier for cheap? Ta.

JKS are good, but not cheap.  I guess you could look out for some 2nd hand ones from someone who's fitting a bigger lift.

Part numbers are:-

Model number 2000 fits '84 - '01 XJs with 2"-3.5" of lift, or TJs with 0"-2" lift.

Model number 2001 fits '84 - '01 XJs with 4"-6" of lift, or TJs with 2.5"-6" lift.

Model number 2002 fits '84 - '01 stock XJs

I thought the 'quicker' JKS needed a tab welding on.  :?:

I was partially correct....

Got the 'standard' JKS disconnects on mine - used for the first time on Sunday and what a difference  8)

Got some webbing straps from a camping shop and riveted them up inside the arches - they've got plastic snap-together buckles and make it simple to get disconnect and anti-roll bar up out of the way - not my idea - I stole it from Woody  :D

Well looks like the jks ones. BDS don't do a disconnect for mine as it's only got 1" of lift. Cheers everyone.

Fitted some of the latest genII Rubicon Express disco's to a TJ today, very nice and they come with a decent way of parking them.
