Title: Buying an XJ petrol or diesel
Post by: Ade on October 26, 2014, 09:13:04 AM
I'm on the lookout for another XJ. Most are over 100000 miles now obviously, so at this sort of mileage is one fuel type a complete no no. I've had one of each but at lower mileage and had no real issues with either. The diesel appeals on the side of economy but I prefer the auto in truth. Thoughts?

My 4L is over 130k miles and still running smooth as, and starts first key. The U.S. jeep forums are talking 200k + with no worries on 4L.

I have one that I might be tempted to sell if you are interested. A genuine 55k miles from new with FSH. 6 months MOT remaining and 3 months tax. Everything works on it even the airco blows ice cold. Rust free and 4 excellent Pirelli Scorpion tyres.
I would need to put the ZJ through an MOT before I let her go but that would only take a day. If you are interested let me know.

diesel sounds cheap but its a false economy

petrol is cheaper, more parts readily available and engines if looked after clock over 250k miles and take alot of punishment. as with all cars electrical sensors will fail first.
