Title: Help identifying TJ part

Hi folks,
Poking around under the hood today and spotted a rotted hose. Trouble is I've no idea what it's connected to in order to hunt down a replacement!

Can anyone help ID the black box in the centre of the picture below? It's next to the fuse box and has a couple of hoses coming out of the left plus a sort of mushroom cap...

Charcoal canister for fuel vapours?

What year and model TJ? I'd like a square one to replace the big round one on my XJ

Does look a lot cleaner than the depth-charge version in my 97TJ
