As above leaving donnington yesterday gearstick was very hard to pull back to drive position
Very hard to get out of park position.
 What's the problem?
 Cheers Mark

Had you used the handbrake/were you parked on a slope?
When the Jeep's weight is resting on the parking pawl it can be harder to get it to release, and mine often comes out of park with a big thud.
-
Can happen if you use Park as a handbrake and stuff it into P before stopping completely or you stuff it into P on a slope and don't use the parking / handbrake.....

I am guilty of all the above as some time....... :jpshakehead:

If none of the above then some fettling of linkages might be needed......others will be along to offer more detail I'm sure.....!!

				Thanks for the info
I am guilty of the above don't use handbrake at all.
 Will check linkages this weekend
-
				handbrakes don't work on cherokee's

good pul and it will release with an unnerving clunk
-
Nearly pull handle off yesterday trying to pull it back

-
maybe the detent button is worn and not fully disengaging

-
Is that a easy fix to sort out?

-
not done it but it does involve the removal of the centre console. Google search might be some help, not sure if it is covered in the gojeep website

-
Will check it out this weekend
 Cheers
