OK so I've been through 3 sets of these now, they just seem to keep snapping. Anybody got any suggestions for replacing them with something else. Or maybe recommend a set that won't break the first time the door swings open.
-
I've seen they do a sort of strut in the states..
I never have a strap snapped on mine though
-
What about using multi stranded cable similar to that used on smaller winches?
-
You could always try the Bulgarian method....cut a pair from an old snatch strap!! Doubt you could ever destroy those. :icon_winkle:

few choices on ebay..

Ooooooer missus. I couldn't help feel that a thong wouldn't be strong enough.
Totally off topic but have booked Bansko over Christmas so would appreciate any info, especially fishing, from someone "on the ground" so to speak.
-
Bansko at Xmas can be fun...don't automatically assume there will be any snow there though! The weather over the last couple of years has proved problematical...lots of rain, landslides cutting off access for days on end, or too much snow!!!
Fishing is very much a hit and miss affair...just make sure you get your fishing licence sorted.

Just chop a foot or so off the end of a cheap ratchet strap, thread through loop on the door and tie a knot in it so the door only opens to your desired angle, job done!
Those straps are so cheap from Lidl, Pound Land or the like you could dedicate a full length to the TJ and still have change for a bacon buttie!

Now there's a good shout, well worth a try! Thanks.

I have a number of old stretcher lifting bridles at home.
Condemned under LOLER regs but perfect for this sort of job.
Cut to length and get a cobbler/shoe repairer to stitch at desired length and these will never fail.
If you want 1 in post let me know.
