Title: Fuel tank skid or Alloy tank inside
Post by: out_of_slip on June 01, 2015, 10:17:01 AM
Hi All,

I am looking at getting a skid plate for my fuel tank after I bashed the stock one but after looking at the prices, I am not too far from an Alloy tank I could fit inside at the rear. Note I don't have the rear seats anymore.

Is there anything I should be aware of if I was to install the tank inside the car (MOT, legislation).

Thanks

Filler and vents to outside of vehicle unless pick up type of styling or roofless.

Some,on here, have put TJ tank in rear ....spun around and have filler on right side....
Cheapest option.....but not as nice as a spendy alloy job in cage ......

Open top vehicle....so OK.small 2.73 gallon tank that used to augment 90 litre LPG tank.....
Sorry one of the little buggers won't load right way up?

Is there any requirement on having a firewall/partition between the tank and the passenger area ?

As far as I know only in competition vehicles.....

The US alloy full width tanks that fit behind the rear seats are just that......no frills....and visible.
But like mine the filler is screw fir and airtight and all roll over valves etc vent to outside.
