Wife went to work in our Grand Cherokee 54 plate today and when she got to work she could not remove the key.
I went out to the vehicle and looking at the key position it would not turn to the point where it can be removed. Key is not bent.I drove her home and the key came out as usual. Tried spare key okay,Lubricated lock a little seemed okay for a couple of tries but problem returned with spare key on next journey.
Vehicle is in Park but it is as though the electrics think it is still in gear or in Neutral. Tried wobbling gear lever etc to no avail. Some pointers please as to what to do first ?

If you turn the key to far back on its self it has a position pass the off location. Key needs clicking forward a position

Have the same issue with my TJ...brake switch apparently?? Mines is an auto so sometimes if I roll the car a little in 'Park' it's tends to click and come out.
It's as though something doesn't disengage properly and it won't release the key.

Have had the same issue on mine, and it's a manual - so not the brake switch.
In the end I just gave it a bit of a wiggle, gave up and left it for a while and it slid out as normal.
It's a strange one.

Problem sorted ! Ignition barell was OK. Turned out cable had disconnected at gearshift end.
