Title: WJ shocks recommended
Post by: gregwho on October 21, 2015, 09:52:58 AM
Morning all

I've got a WJ 2.7CRD, with ~100k.  It went in for its MOT about 4 months ago and they pulled up one of the rear axle seals were leaking.  I took it off the road around then and only now managed to get around to doing both axle seals, and the pinion seal (turns out that was leaking too).  At the sametime, I changed out the rear shocks (fronts still to be done) with some Bilstein 4600's.

Took the Jeep out the other day, and can honestly same i'm disappointed in the ride quality - I bought the Bilstein's based on the understanding that they would stiffen the ride (really i'm only ever on road, so on road ride quality is more important than offroad comfort).  I've noticed that they don't dampen the springs as much as the 100k originals :banghead: Has anyone else tried these?  Did you have a different experience?

I'm now contemplating another new set, but would love to hear anyones thoughts on shocks they have tried.  I know a lot of this is personal preference, but would still love to hear some of the models and the results.  One set i'm considering is from Llama4x4, Rough Country.

If the springs havent sagged (ride height is equal all round), is it worth changing them out anyway?  Just trying to do my best to make the ride less rolly (i've also fitted the Addco upgraded roll bar).

Cheers

Ta, will look into them. Any recommendations on suppliers for OME?

Should the Bilsteins that I've got really be this soft?
