Sorry guys if this has been answered before, but just wondered if it's redline mtl or 10/30 engine oil I need for my gearbox. It's a bit hard to get into 1st2nd in cold mornings.

75W90 GL3

Redline MTL or MT-90 are the preferred fluids. I have MTL in mine i think. It's a while since I changed it.
Although 75W90 GL3 was the correct fill it's hard to get and when I used a fluid that spec before going with the redline the changes got worse.
Manufacturer (Aisin Warner) recommended fill has been FULLY SYNTHETIC 10W-30 for some years now and is what you'd get if you had a fluid change done at a dealership.
Out of all of the people I've seen comment on jeepforum.com, that have used both redline and the motor oil, only one has stated they prefered the motor oil. All others have stated the redline fluids gave a slightly better change.

They say the best oil for the AX-15 is Redline MT-90 however sure does look like regular synthetic 10w-30 is a low cost alternative. I was considering MT-90 for a while as I was having hard shifting esp 1st to 2nd but since I fitted an SYE and removed the TC drop the issue was resolved so I never got round to changing the oil.
The AX-15 transmission does not have a synchronized Reverse gear so it will grind if you don't use the right technique. The AX-5 doesn't have a synchronized Reverse gear either.
The grind-free technique for shifting into Reverse when it is not synchronized is simple... just before shifting into Reverse, simply momentarily shift into any forward gear and then move the lever directly into Reverse. No need to release the clutch pedal during the momentary move to the forward gear before moving the lever into Reverse.
Some reading if you have nothing else to do. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/basic-maintenance-ax-15-oil-change-865520/

Cheers guys, I think I'll give 10w-30 a go, much cheaper especially as I already have some! If that fails redline mtl is then.
